WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO SEARCH PUBLIC RECORDS?
Genealogy~ The Recording of a Family Tree:
Public records are the official records kept of everyone’s life. They start with a birth certificate and end with a death certificate. Everything that officially happens during a persons lifetime, is recoded in the public records of whatever country, state, county or shire they reside in. Sometimes a searcher may have to go through the public record archives of several different countries to get the full story of an ancestors life.
These records are archived every year. They show all the life events of the population from births that have been registered to whom. They list Mother, Father, hospital, date, date and time. From a birth certificate, here in Australia you can get an extract or a full birth certificate. These are official documents and will follow you your whole life. There will be many occasions on which you will be required to show an original copy or a certified copy.
If you want to trace your ancestry back to your roots then you need to know a bit about the family history so you will have some idea where to start your search. Due to so many people migrating over the centuries, you will need to know which country your family originated from. This will help enormously in cutting down your search time but if you don’t know any of this information, you can still find the information that you are looking for and probably, a whole lot more that you may not even want to know.
Many surprises have emerged from searching family histories. Some pleasant, some funny, some sad, some that you may consider shameful but it is all recorded in public record archives somewhere. To start a search, you have to start with the known information and work backwards.
Character Check: For employment, association, character assessment
Many employers today do character checks prior to employment. The reasoning behind this is simple as they don’t want to have staff employment problems after employing someone only to find at a later date that they are not of good character.
In today’s world where information is only a click or two away, many employers and human resource personnel check out potential employees via Google, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites . If the person has gained a bad reputation somewhere, it will undoubtedly be recorded somewhere in public records and can be found. The internet has given everyone a platform on which to check out information like never before in history.
Medical Reasons:
With the advancement in technology and science, medicine has come a long way from the past. We now know that some diseases are genetically inherited and can be passed down through following generations. Unless you know what some of your ancestors have died from, you may not know whether you or your child has inherited a disease from genetics or whether it is a new illness. There are many reasons to know your family medical history because one day it could save your life.
Conclusion:
It is a good idea today to do a careful due diligence prior to hiring anyone. With the new employment regulations, you could save yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars and a lot of angst. To know your medical history could save your life, and to know some of the family skeletons makes you realise just how human we all are.
